Το περασμένο Σάββατο με ένα TV special με τίτλο "The Brits Are Coming", ανακοινώθηκαν επίσημα οι υποψηφιότητες για τα Βρετανικά Μουσικά Βραβεία 2022, δηλαδή για τα Brit Awards, δηλαδή για τα BRITs.
Η τελετή απονομής θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 2022 στην Ο2 Arena του Λονδίνου και η Adele, ενώ περιμένει καρτερικά τις μαζικές (λογικά) υποψηφιότητες στα Grammys 2023, στα βραβεία της χώρας της αναγνωρίζεται πολύ πιο σύντομα.
Καθώς όμως, αυτή είναι η πρώτη χρονιά που τα BRITs τοποθετούν female και male acts στις ίδιες -ορισμένες- κατηγορίες, οι διογρανωτές αναφέρουν πως φέτος περισσότερες γυναίκες είναι υποψήφιες συγκριτικά με τα προηγούμενα χρόνια, 18 στο σύνολο, ενώ οι κατηγορίες Song of the Year και International Song of the Year έχουν συνολικά 15 ονόματα υποψήφια.
Επίσης, υποψηφιότητες σκοράρουν και θρυλικά ονόματα, όπως οι ABBA και ο Elton John.
